Dear Nikon,
Please produce a couple of cameras to respond to the Canon G10 and SD 880. The current Nikon cameras in this type and price range are not competitive with Canon and even lesser manufacturers. I need something to put in my pocket when I don't want to carry around an SLR.
The most important attributes are:
- to be able to shoot at high ISO like 2000, without digital noise. The D3 has demonstrated that Nikon knows how to get great shots at ISO 6400. A D90 is pretty good at ISO 3200. ISO 2000 should be possible to do in a compact point and shoot at a reasonable cost.
- Make sure the lens is sharp. Current 18-55 and 55-200 Nikkors prove that sharp lenses can be made at a low cost and sold at a competitive price.
- Have at least a 5x zoom. 28 to 135 equivalent is fine for me, but I'm sure the pro's would like to see something as low as 24. Forget about attachments for wider angles and more telephoto, make the camera a great one as it is with no extra attachments to carry around.
- have at least 10 megapixels, more importantly, as large a sensor as possible
- be intuitive and easy to use
I'm not particularly interested in whether or not it would capture RAW images, but I'm sure the pro and semi pro Nikon owners who are buying the Canon G10 and SD 880 probably are.
I've taken some great pictures with my old Coolpix 4300, but was disappointed with the 5700. I would like to replace both of them with something new from Nikon. Please help me.
Thanks
Gary
