Silent Shooting Mode

Dear Nikon,

Your range of DSLR is really very balanced, and today is by far the best available, BUT please don’t forget people that need a Silent Shooting Mode!!

I have a D3 gear for theatre shooting and I still have to keep Canon gear (1DMkIII)
due to its “Silent Shooting Mode”: during theater sessions is absolutely essential as people at theaters
don’t let photographers shoot with noisy cameras. And unfortunately your flagships cameras like D3 and D700
are too much noisy and much noisier than Canon 1DMkIII.

Lenses, again...

Dear Nikon,

I would really like to see an affordable, high quality long lens. Please update the 300 f/4 AFS with VR and new tripod collar. Also, think of Sigma offering (with their 120-400 and 150-500): why don't you update the 80-400 with better coatings/glass, eventually reducing zoom range to make it sharp at 400 mm as it is at 300 mm, and add the AFS motor?

Thank you

Mass storage

Dear Nikon,

We have a number of Nikon cameras and purchasing the D90 a few months ago created a headache as we can not download the pictures quickly like on the D200, D300 and even the D40X we have. It seems so stupid that we need to take the memory card out and put it in the D40 to download the pictures quickly, delete them easy etc. Using the Nikon software was totally useless and as slow that we thought there must be something wrong. I bought even the Mac I-photo and thought this would speed it up, but just as bad. The mass-storage option on the other cameras is perfect and now thinking of getting rid of the D90 unless it can be upgraded somehow via a download.
Is this going to happen, or not? The camera was advertised as having a fast USB2 connection, but it is useless.
I emailed to Nikon about a month ago and did not hear back. They must be getting heaps of complaints, what are they thinking?
Best wishes (for me as well)
Rudie

and another one on the same topic:

Dear Nikon,
If I had known that my D90 does not support Mass Storage - I would not have bought it. It's that important to me. Now I cannot recover accidently deleted or formatted cards because they cant be mounted on my desktop. Now I'm stuck in "Nikonland" and I'm limited by your software only.

PLEASE RELEASE A FIRMWARE UPDATE TO INCLUDE MASS STORAGE FOR THE D90.

D40 firmware

Dear Nikon,

AEB feature would be definitely a good addition to the next D40 firmware.
It would definitely keep me from moving to the Canon's.

Perfect DSLR for me!

Dear Nikon,

If you find the time, please create a camera for me (and if you want to sell it to others I would be fine with that). I am an avid amateur who will not spend the money on a D3 or D3x. Your D700 is a great start but let’s improve it a bit. Please change the following few things on your D700 and we’ll be happy!

1. Increase the mp’s to around 16 – 20. More than that is too many, even for most pros shooting for magazines. At some point, the large mp cameras are simply over the top. 16 – 20 is perfect.
2. What’s with the race to have the highest ISO’s? It’s cool, but what about the bottom end? The D700 STARTS at 200. What’s with that? Let’s get it down to at least 50 and in the future down to 25. We used to shoot slow film at those speeds and loved it. Not everyone is a sports photographer or low light shooter. Take care of us careful types out there and give us at least 50 ISO.
3. Video would be cool.
4. Clean up the menus. Compared to the new Canon 5D mark ii, your D700 menus looks dated and rookie.
5. I don’t care about size or weight, so if it’s cheaper to make it bigger and heavier then fine.
6. Keep the pop-up flash. I don’t use it too much, but it’s nice to have.
7. Add an IR remote sensor. My D80 has one and it’s great. You can trip the shutter from many yards away. However, please add one to the BACK of the camera too! The D80 has only one and it’s in the front. That’s cool for group shots with you in it, but for other shots you have to reach around to the front of the camera.
8. Mirror lock-up for more than just cleaning the sensor.

That’s it. That’s what real people want.

Thanks,
Steve
